Digital imaging and an in-house 3D lab

Orthodontic treatment is only as precise as the information behind it. Here is the equipment Dr. Bar plans with, what each piece does for your case, and why the lab that makes your retainers is in the same building as your treatment chair.

Imaging that shows the whole picture

A visual exam sees the surfaces of teeth and gums. Everything that decides an orthodontic plan sits underneath: root positions, bone width, impacted teeth, the jaw joints, the airway, and how the upper and lower jaws relate. Bar Orthodontics runs a fully digital imaging workflow so Dr. Bar plans from measurements rather than estimates.

Radiation, in plain terms

A digital dental X-ray delivers about 0.005 mSv, less than a day of natural background radiation. A panoramic image is about 0.01 mSv. A CBCT scan is between 0.05 and 0.2 mSv depending on the field of view, well below a medical CT. We shield every patient and follow the ALARA principle: only the imaging a case needs, and no more. If you have recent X-rays from your dentist, bring them and we will use them where we can.

An orthodontic lab down the hall, not across the country

Most practices send appliances to an outside lab and wait. At Bar Orthodontics, retainers, night guards, and many appliances are designed and 3D printed on site from your digital scan, reviewed by Dr. Bar before they leave the lab. There is no shipping delay, no technician who has never seen your case, and no second wait if something needs adjusting.

Engineered by someone who builds appliances

Dr. Bar co-founded the Moon Aligner System and holds three orthodontic patents, so the lab is run by a clinician who has designed appliances at the research and development level, not a practice that bought a printer. Combined with his ABO board certification, that is the oversight behind every retainer and guard that comes out of the Rockwall lab.

What this means at your visit

Your complimentary consultation includes a clinical exam, a digital scan, and any imaging your case needs, taken on site and reviewed with you the same day. You leave with a plan built on your anatomy, and when treatment ends, your retainers are made in the same building by the same team.
