Meet Dr. Bar

Bar Orthodontics is an orthodontic specialty practice, not a general dental office that also offers braces. Dr. Ehab Bar is an ABO Board-Certified orthodontist with UCLA training, advanced training in craniofacial anomalies, three orthodontic patents, and a co-founder role in the Moon Aligner System. You see the same doctor at every visit. The office is fully digital: intraoral scanning instead of impressions, CBCT 3D imaging, and an in-house 3D printing lab that makes retainers in about 48 hours. Consultations are complimentary.

We treat children, teens, and adults. First evaluations start at age 7, when the first permanent molars and incisors are in and growth problems like crossbites and narrow arches can still be guided. Most children evaluated at 7 do not need treatment yet and go on a free recall schedule. Teens make up the largest group, with braces, Invisalign Teen, and the Moon Aligner System. A large share of our patients are adults, from their twenties to their seventies, usually choosing clear aligners or ceramic braces. There is no upper age limit as long as the teeth and gums are healthy.

Yes. We accept most major dental insurance plans that include orthodontic benefits, and we file the claims for you. Bring your insurance card to the complimentary consultation and our team will verify your orthodontic coverage, lifetime maximum, and any waiting period before you commit to anything. Flexible spending (FSA) and health savings (HSA) funds can be applied as well. For the balance after insurance, we offer interest-free monthly payment plans with a modest down payment, so the fee is spread over the length of treatment.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. By then the first permanent molars and incisors have erupted, which is enough for Dr. Bar to spot crossbites, narrow arches, crowding, and jaw-growth problems while growth can still be guided. Most children evaluated at 7 do not need treatment yet; they go on a free recall schedule and we check every 6 to 12 months. A smaller group benefits from short Phase 1 treatment, usually a palatal expander or a limited appliance, that can prevent extractions or surgery later. The evaluation is complimentary.

Yes. Dr. Bar is a certified Invisalign provider and treats both teens and adults with clear aligners. Invisalign Teen includes compliance indicators and replacement trays for lost aligners. For movements that standard aligners handle poorly, such as rotations, extrusions, and root torque, we also offer the Moon Aligner System, which Dr. Bar co-founded. Aligners are nearly invisible, removable for eating and brushing, and need to be worn about 22 hours a day. Not every bite is an aligner case; the complimentary consultation includes a digital scan so Dr. Bar can tell you whether aligners or braces will give the better result.

The fee depends on the complexity of the bite, the appliance chosen (metal braces, clear ceramic braces, Invisalign, or the Moon Aligner System), and how long treatment will take, so we quote after the complimentary consultation rather than over the phone. At that visit Dr. Bar reviews your digital scan and X-rays, and you leave with the exact fee in writing, with no surprise charges later. Most dental insurance plans with orthodontic benefits cover part of the cost, FSA and HSA funds apply, and we offer interest-free monthly payment plans for the balance. Phase 1 treatment for young children costs less than full treatment.

Yes. Dr. Ehab Bar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), a voluntary certification held by a minority of orthodontists. He completed his orthodontic residency and a craniofacial fellowship at UCLA, holds three orthodontic patents, and co-founded the Moon Aligner System. Bar Orthodontics is a board-certified orthodontic practice in Rockwall, TX.

No. You can schedule a consultation at Bar Orthodontics directly, without a referral from a general dentist. Many of our patients are referred by their dentist, but a referral is not required, and your first consultation is complimentary. We do recommend keeping up with regular cleanings at your family dentist during orthodontic treatment.

Most comprehensive cases at Bar Orthodontics take 12 to 24 months, with clear aligner cases averaging 12 to 18 months and braces 18 to 24 months. Phase 1 treatment for children typically runs 9 to 18 months. Accelerated orthodontics can shorten treatment by several months for eligible patients. Dr. Bar gives you an estimated timeline at your complimentary consultation based on your digital scan and X-rays.

Both are clear aligner systems, and Dr. Bar offers both. Invisalign is the most widely known brand, and Bar Orthodontics is a certified Invisalign provider. The Moon Aligner System was co-founded by Dr. Bar and is engineered for the movements standard aligners handle poorly, such as rotations, extrusions, and root torque, which can mean fewer refinements and a shorter total treatment. Both are nearly invisible, removable, and worn about 22 hours a day. After your complimentary consultation and digital scan, Dr. Bar recommends whichever fits your bite; the fee is similar for either.

Yes, every patient does. Teeth drift for life, and the first year after braces or aligners come off is when they move the most, so retainers are part of treatment, not an add-on. Bar Orthodontics makes custom 3D printed retainers in our own in-office lab from your final digital scan, usually ready within 48 hours. Most patients wear them full time for a few months and nightly after that. If a retainer is lost or cracked, we can print a replacement from your scan without new impressions, including for patients treated elsewhere.

Call us at (972) 772-2500 as soon as you can and we will get you in, usually the next business day. In the meantime, a loose bracket can be left in place if it is not bothering you, and a poking wire can be covered with orthodontic wax or gently pushed back with a clean pencil eraser. If a wire is long enough to cut, a clean nail clipper can trim the end. Keep any piece that comes off and bring it to your visit. Swelling, significant pain, or trauma to the face should be seen the same day, so call the office and we will direct you.

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons adults come to see us. Teeth shift over time, especially if retainers were stopped years ago, and a second round of treatment is usually shorter than the first because the bite was corrected once already. Dr. Bar will take a digital scan and a 3D cone beam image, compare it with your current bite, and tell you whether a few months of aligners, a limited set of braces, or simply a new retainer is the right fix. Many adults who had braces as a teen finish in six to twelve months with clear aligners. The consultation is complimentary, and you will leave with a clear answer either way.

Yes. Our military braces program is built for active-duty families, reservists, and teens who plan to enlist. Before treatment starts, Dr. Bar plans the timeline around a known ship date or PCS move so active treatment can finish, or reach a safe stopping point, before you leave. Recruits are often pressured to have braces removed early; Department of Defense policy does not require that, and we will not certify treatment as complete when it is not. If a move is unavoidable mid-treatment, we send full digital records, scans, and a written transfer summary to your new orthodontist, and we can print replacement retainers from your scan at any time, from anywhere. Call (972) 772-2500 and mention your service when you book.
